Falso Reten - Fake Roadblock (Published in Riodoce during Easter 2010)
Another common occurence on northern Mexico's sideroads: henchmen extorting travellers at roadblocks. When the two hitmen stop a car, they are very polite, and the driver thanks them for it, offering them a bribe, to which they respond that the boss doesn't allow kickbacks. We stick to honest organized crime. They offer to take the man to the nearest tollbooth, to which he responds I have never been treated so well at a roadblock, - a reference to army and police roadblocks.
